Where it started
LIR Design does renovation work in Barrie and around Simcoe County. On a busy week there are up to seven people on the crew, across more than one job. The work on site was never the hard part. The hard part came after it.
The evening shift nobody pays for
Hours came in by text, if they came in. They went into an Excel sheet, then into pay. Quotes were typed up at night. Invoices waited until the weekend, and HST had to be worked out by hand. Clients called to ask how the job was going. Every crew owner we talk to knows this evening shift.
What we built, one problem at a time
- Hours by text → clock-in at the site. The crew taps Clock in, the app picks the job, and the hours are counted.
- Excel on Friday → payroll from the clock-ins. Hours × rate for each person, Mark as paid, one Excel file for the bookkeeper.
- Quotes at night → a quote from the phone. HST added for you, and the client approves it on their own phone.
- Invoices on the weekend → hours and receipts pull in. The invoice goes out with HST as a PDF or a link.
- "How's the job going?" calls → the client's own page. Progress, the photos you choose to share, quotes and invoices.
- A crew that speaks different languages → five languages. English, Ukrainian, Spanish, French and Russian, each person in their own.
One price, because a crew grows
We didn't want a bill that goes up every time you hire someone. So CrewHub is one price for the whole crew, from $14.99 CAD a month.
Still a small company
CrewHub is a small Ontario company, not a big software firm. You can write to the founder directly: [email protected]. If something is missing for your crew, tell us — that's how the app got built.
