What a good contractor estimate includes
- Your business name, contact details and HST number.
- The client and the job address.
- The work, line by line: labour, materials, anything extra.
- HST as its own line, and the total.
- How long the price is valid, and what is not included.
Estimate or quote — which one am I sending?
In Ontario, an estimate is a best guess: if the final bill goes more than 10% over it, the client can refuse to pay the difference. A quote is a firm price for the work described. If you're sure of the price, call it a quote. If the scope can still change — opening a wall, an old basement — call it an estimate and say what could change it. Quote vs estimate: the 10% rule →

Get the estimate approved before you start
With a CrewHub account your client opens the estimate on their phone and taps Approve. An approved quote can't be changed — extra work goes on a new quote. When the job is done, it becomes the invoice with HST. Quote and invoice app →
